West Road’s Music

Intent, Implementation

and Impact Statement

The music curriculum ensures students sing, listen, play, perform and evaluate. This is embedded in the classroom through the implementation of the Kapow scheme.

Children have many opportunities throughout their school life to get involved with lots of different musical events. All children have the opportunity to play the recorder and glockenspiel as well as take part in weekly singing assemblies.

As a school we provide opportunities for children in KS2 to learn to play the guitar and flute with the Doncaster Music Service and perform to an audience.

All children have the choice of joining the school choir and performing within the local community.
