Art

At West Road we believe that taking part in art and design allows us to investigate what we see; to make creative responses; to interpret; to evaluate and reach decisions.

Our pupils will learn about great artists, craft makers and designers by studying artwork from ancient, traditional and modern time periods. They will learn to evaluate and analyse creative works. They will learn about art from a range of places and cultures. Our pupils will learn about techniques and the elements of art (such as shape, colour and line).

They will use their knowledge to explore ideas and record their experiences through creative work. They will develop skills, showing progression in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques such as printing and using textiles.
