.✨ Message from the Chair of Governors

Alan W. Pettigrew — West Road Primary Academy

My name is Alan Pettigrew, and I have the privilege of serving as Chair of the Board of Governors here at West Road Primary Academy. I became a Governor because I care deeply about our school and its children, and I want every child at West Road to have the very best start in life. I know this commitment is shared wholeheartedly by all my fellow Governors.

✨What Makes West Road Special

Our school sets high expectations for both work and behaviour, enabling children to achieve their full potential. We aim to nurture confident, independent young people who are sensitive to others, curious about the world, and ready for the challenges ahead. Our pupils are encouraged to become role models — inspiring one another, supporting their peers, and making a positive impression on parents and carers alike. The continuous rise in our children’s progress and attainment reflects the high-quality education they receive and helps to instil a lifelong love of learning.

✨A Community to Be Proud Of

Whenever Governors visit the school, we are consistently impressed by the pupils we meet. They are confident, polite, well-mannered, and enthusiastic about their learning. It is a genuine pleasure to be associated with such a vibrant and positive school community.

I would also like to introduce our Head Teacher, Ms Julie Woodward, whose energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm continue to steer the school on an outstanding course. She is ably supported by Mr Paul Silvester, Miss Hannah Purdy, and Miss Amy Northwood — together forming a strong and effective Leadership Team.

✨Thank You to Our Staff and Governors

My sincere thanks go to all teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication in creating a safe, happy, caring, and stimulating environment in which children can thrive. Their collective effort has played a major role in making West Road a truly ‘Good’ school.

I would also like to thank my fellow Governors for their time, professionalism, and commitment. They bring a wealth of experience from diverse backgrounds, and their most important role is ensuring that our already successful school continues to improve.

On behalf of the entire Governing Body, I extend our gratitude to all parents, volunteers, and friends of the school for their continued support.

Thank you for visiting our website. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact me through the school.

TO LEARN, TO GROW, TOGETHER

Kind regards,

A. W. Pettigrew
