Turtles & Jellyfish

Welcome to the webpage for Jellyfish (morning Nursery) and Turtles (afternoon Nursery)!

Our new topic for this final term will be ‘The Wonderful World’ in which we will explore and investigate the things which make our world special! This will be split into 3 main areas; inventions, plants and animals. The children will be:

- Designing and making their own inventions.

- Going on a Spring walk around school.

- Going on a mini-beast hunt in Jenny's wood.

- Use a range of technological devices.

- Take part in an electronic toy show and tell.

- Participate in a sponsored bike ride for Healthy week

- Design a healthy menu.

- Plant a range of flowers and plants.

- Look after our own baby chicks within the Nursery classroom.

Uniform

We encourage the children to wear school uniform as this helps them to feel part of the school community. Although children are asked to wear aprons for painting etc. they will still get messy! Please send your child with a change of clothes (don’t forget socks!) for any spills or accidents. Also they will need a supply of extra pull ups / underwear as they develop independence in toileting.

PLEASE MAKE SURE JUMPERS/CARDIGANS, COATS AND SHOES HAVE NAMES CLEARLY MARKED.

Helping at home

Please try to help your child to develop independence in everyday routines e.g. putting on their coat, fastening their shoes, washing their hands.

Children will often bring home a learning task, please do your best to help them complete this and return the sheet to school.

We are setting up ‘Bags of Fun’ which the children will soon be able to borrow. These will include a story book for you to read together. In the meantime please keep reading and sharing lots of stories and rhymes with your child – this is one of the best ways to help them in their education. Children at this age need lots of time to talk about the pictures and what is happening.

We love to hear about how your child is getting on at home. Please use the Magic Moments booklets if your child does something new or special.

If you have any questions, concerns or worries please speak to one of the Nursery team straight away. We are here to help in whatever way we can.

Here are seven ways to create a quality story time.
