Angel Fish

Welcome to another exciting year. I hope you have had a good summer holiday. I would like to say how impressed we all are with how the children have settled back into school. Thank you for all for your help and support with this.

Please remember that all staff within the EYFS are always willing to help and support you and your child so if you have any worries, concerns or questions……please come and see any of the team.

The first week of school is always a big day for you and your child. With the Angelfish class we have been learning about routines of the school day, practicing lining up quietly and sensibly for dinner and tidying up after we have used toys and resources. The children have also be practicing sitting smartly, quietly and maintaining attention, (ask your child about Larry Lambs rules for good listening) we are trying really hard with this.

Our topic this term is ‘Under the Sea.’ We are going to learning lots of interesting and exciting facts about animals that live in, on and under the sea. We will be reading lots of exciting stories and participating in hands on activities that will encourage and extend the children. During our first week we have learn out our class animals ‘the Angelfish,’ we have found out that;

* Angelfish are brightly coloured

* They live in warm shallow waters

* Angelfish have red eyes

We have also painting Angelfish and have learnt several songs. Look at our amazing paintings.

We practice handwriting every day, taking care to hold our pencils correctly and forming letters accurately. The children also have phonics every day. During these sessions they will learn sounds, practice reading and writing words that contain the sounds that they have learnt so far.

We have daily mental maths sessions and maths activities that will build on the skills they learnt in nursery and will extend and challenge them further now they are in reception.

PE we by every Friday Morning. Please ensure that PE kits are fully labelled and in a bag that your child can recognise.

Please ensure that your child has a coat everyday as they may choose to learn outside for long period of time. (Please ensure that this is suitable for all weathers)  In the winter months we advise that children bring wellington boots to change into so that they are access the outdoor area fully (we use the outdoor area even when it is raining).

Your child can bring their own piece of fruit for the afternoon session. Please ensure that it is named and put in the fruit box and not left in their lunch boxes. It is advisable that your child brings a water bottle to school so that they can remain hydrated throughout the day. Please make sure that their bottle is clearly labelled. Please DO NOT send juice, pop or flavoured water in their bottles as they will not be allowed it and will be provided with water.

Keep a look out for details of our open weeks. This is when you are invited to come and spend half a day with your child at school.

Once again if you have any problems, concerns or if you would like to ask a question please feel free to talk to either Miss Lambert (class Teacher) or Miss Espley (EYFP with the Angelfish class) we are always happy to help in any-way we can.

Within the EYFS we are always running out of boys and girls pants and socks. If your child has grown out of them and you wish to donate them to school we would be very grateful for your generosity.
